Abstract

Deliberate self harm is important risk factor for completed suicide. This retrospective study of psychiatric referral for last 3 years found that these cases constituted 9.09% of total referral cases. Age group 21-30 years constituted majority of these patients, male patients more than females and organophosphorus compound were used by majority of patient (35.71%). Need of psychiatrist in emergency setting, education of emergency medical officers regarding management of these cases is suggested.
