Abstract

The prevalence of suicide ideas and attempts was investigated in a sample of Hungarian adult population parallel to the prevalence of anxiety- and affective disorders. 3.2% of the respondents between 18 and 64 years reported suicide attempt during their life. Despite the higher Hungarian suicide rate, the rate of suicide attempts does not differ from those international surveys which used a similar method. Women, people who are living alone and multiple psychiatric morbidity in the history are the main endangering factors.
