Abstract

As we all know, we live in a transitional society. We experience transition from one system to the other, and these systems appear to be extremely different. Lithuania used to be the 'West of the East.' Now we seem to have become the 'East of the West,' which is not the same. We like to tell our foreign guests that Lithuania is the geographical center of Europe. We also are proud to be a part of Northern Europe, and, since 1998, we belong to the North European Zone of the World Psychiatric Association.
