Abstract

Suicide is not prevalent among young persons, but it is the second death cause among adolescents as revealed by international incidence data. Adolescence is an evolutive step of the development of adolescents. Depressive symptoms are physiological during adolescence, but they can become fatal if the young life is distressed by traumatic events (i.e. abuse, familiar conflict, psychiatric disease of a parent, loss of a parent). These factors can induce withdrawal or deviance behaviour. Suicide is the pathological pole of a continuum and the extreme consequence of an individual pain. The risk factors of suicidal behaviour are associated to depression, relational or unspecific problems. The knowledge of the juvenile suicidal phenomenon aims guidelines to the education to prevent it.
