Abstract

Recent studies about suicide seem to demonstrate an increase of this problem. It becomes therefore important to get out some reliable ways directed to identify subjects with high-risk before suicidal acting as well as the development of programs of treatment for adolescents who attempted suicide. A preventive approach has to consider that the 'breaking' behaviour often precedes the self-destructive behaviour that brings to suicide; all the same, some behaviours should be considered like alarm factors for suicide. The Author examines the steps to take with an adolescent who has attempted suicide and who comes into a medical structure: complete the clinical evaluation and the anamnesis; help the family to begin a psychological elaboration that has later to be continued with a specialist; give a good time and space for a mediation between adolescent and his/her family.
