Abstract

The case is presented of a 13-year-old girl who developed acute renal failure after massive NSAID ingestion in a suicide attempt. Symptomatic management resulted in a favorable clinical outcome. The pathophysiology of the different renal symptoms associated with the intake of these drugs is reviewed. The need to include NSAId ingestion in the differential diagnosis of preadolescent or adolescent patients presenting acute renal failure of unknown etiology is stressed.
