Abstract

The present paper illustrates an application of liquid chromatography with mass detection (LC/MS) for the evaluation of drug metabolism, using as an example a fatal complex poisoning with a mixture of drugs - bencyclane, levomepromazine, doxepine. Identification of drugs and their metabolites in biological samples taken from fatally poisoned subjects play an important role in the practice of medicolegal certification and may also be useful for scientific consideration in toxicology. The introduction of mass detection for chromatographic technique, especially for liquid chromatography has enlarged possibilities of analysis of different xenobiotics on a low concentration level and in multicomponent mixtures of different xenobiotics in biological samples.
