Abstract

A total of 51 depressed inpatients were followed-up 12 years later. Seven (14%) of them committed suicide. All 4 men were originally DST nonsuppressors, whereas 2 of 3 women were suppressors; however, they both died more than 8 years after the original investigation. The result supports the notion that DST nonsuppression is even in the longer term associated with completed suicide in men.
