Abstract

Police custody deaths in any country is one of the sensational news to the press that attract large population and embrass the law enforcing agency at large. These deaths are routinely reported in press from all over India and Delhi being not an exception to them. In last 18 years (1980-1997), 89 people died in police custody in Delhi. A large number of these deaths were natural, triggered by stressful event. This paper in an attempt to look and discuss these deaths through an illustrative case.
