Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between suicide ideation and each of the following variables in a population of college students: depression, loneliness, stress, and hopelessness, as well as the relationships among each of the variables. The strongest associations were between suicide ideation and depression, followed by suicide ideation and hopelessness, and suicide ideation and loneliness. A strong association was found between depression and hopelessness, while moderate associations were found between depression and loneliness, and loneliness and hopelessness.
