Abstract

The Military Police is characterized by its strong discipline and hierarchy. The organization of work and of the activities can provide tension and mental suffering to the police who have chosen this profession. These professionals deal at the same time, with the precariousness of work combined with vision of contemporary society, in which fight against violence. All these factors imply mental health professionals, increasing cases of burnout syndrome, depression, alcoholism and even suicide. This article, through a literature review, aims to identify the factors of labor Military Police environment that affect the mental health of police, defining and demonstrating the consequences of workplace / organization of work in the mental health of police military, as well as the consequences for the military Police organization. Based on a critical analysis combined with work psychology, will discuss what are the possible interventions to minimize the psychological suffering of these professionals. Thus, awareness of the importance of obtaining knowledge about the work environment, and what damage it causes mental health professional this is a challenge that excites psychologists work possible practices and interventions to be developed. © 2017.
