Abstract

In developing countries like India poisoning is one of the most common causes ofmorbidity and mortality. There is great variation in type of poisoning consumption and also method of poisoning. Hence to know the pr file of poisoning, a retrospective study wasconducted in Navodaya Medical College Hospital and research centre, Raichur. Study perio was between Jan-Oct 2015. 200 cases of poisoning cases were studied during this period. The aim of the study was to know the age and sex distribution of the victims, commonest type of poison used and manner of poisoning. In the present study maximum cases of poisoning was seen in the age group of 21 to 30 years (35.5%) and males were more when compared to female. Among 200 subjects majority i.e 126 (63%) were due to organophosphorus campound. When manner of death was evaluated, suicide was the most common with 78.5 %(157) of study subjects. © 2017, World Informations Syndicate. All rights reserved.
