Abstract

In this study, the Korean Welfare Panel Data was used to select suicide risk factors and protective factors in the 10th series of data from 2015, and select suicidal ideation variable in the 11th series of data from 2016. In addition to the comprehensive analysis of the determining factors of suicide ideation among the elderly a plan to lower the suicide rate of the elderly will be proposed. First, the determining factors for suicide idealization among the Korean elderly were number of economic activity families, depression, and welfare services use, among which depression was the least influential. Second, the number of economically active family members of Korean elderly people was a factor reducing suicide ideation. Third, the elderly's use of welfare service was a factor in reducing suicide ideation. © 2017 American Scientific Publishers All rights reserved.
