Abstract

An overview of the Kutschera's metric for assessing the performance of fighter aircrafts was presented. The metric model was able to identify the optimum speed for initiating a manoeuvre involving any desired heading change in any plane. The value of optimum turn speed was found to be dependent on the starting altitude.
