Abstract

In order to explore self⁃ignition mechanism of high⁃pressure hydrogen leakage, influence of obstacles inside tubes on self ⁃ ignition characteristics was studied by utilizing high ⁃ speed photography, pressure acquisition and flame detector technologies. And among all obstacles, triangular ones were arranged on upper and lower walls of tubes 120 mm away from burst disk. The results show that when there are obstacles, leading shock wave interacts with obstacle wall to produce reflected shock waves whose pressure is about twice that of leading one. Presence of obstacles increases possibility of self ⁃ ignition, causing critical burst pressure for self⁃ignition to decrease from 4.21 MPa(tube without obstacles)down to 2.84 MPa (with obstacles). Moreover, its presence significantly reduces time and distance of initial ignition which tends to appear near obstacles. © 2020 China Safety Science Journal. All rights reserved.
