Abstract

In order to improve flammability and fire safety of RPUF,rGO/SiO2 aerogel was prepared via sol ⁃ gel method by combining reduced graphene(rGO)with SiO2 aerogel. Secondly,it was mixed with polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)and applied on surface of RPUF to fabricate coated flame⁃retardant RPUF. Then,its morphology and structure were analyzed by using SEM and infrared spectroscopy,and pyrolytic behavior and flame retardancy of coated RPUF were studied via thermogravimetric and vertical combustion tests. Finally,influence of different rGO contents on flame retardancy was studied,and flame retardant mechanism of aerogel coating was revealed. The results show that aerogel coating has high char residue and excellent thermal stability under high temperature,which can resist thermal erosion effectively. Among them,0.05% rGO/SiO2 coated RPUF sample reaches V-0 level,showing rapid self⁃extinguishing performance. It suggests that aerogel coatings can act'as an efficient physical barrier to block or delay mass and heat transfer. © 2020 China Safety Science Journal. All rights reserved.
