Abstract

The purpose of this study was to suggest the importance of focusing on individual differences concerning take-over requests (TOR) for Level 3 autonomous driving systems. An experiment was conducted to determine whether there was a significant difference in response to the TOR between those who were more receptive to others and those who were not. The results showed that regardless of individual differences, the warning sound and text presentation were effective for quick and safe switching to the driver from autonomous driving systems. On the contrary, only those highly receptive to others showed slower responses in the synthetic voice presentation.
