Abstract

This paper introduces results of the feasibility study of a lane keeping assist system utilizing the rear view camera for a parking assist system instead of a dedicated front view camera. If a rear view camera is shared, the total system cost can be significantly reduced. However, the system has some disadvantages also such as delay of lane recognition that causes degradation of the control accuracy for lane position, and detection loss of lane markers due to the low image resolution in distant area. We propose the countermeasures for these concerns, and show the simulation and experimental results.
