Abstract

New expressions are introduced to indicate the contribution rate between members for load transfer in vehicle bodies. Load transfers from the loading and the supporting points are expressed using U∗ individually, and the summation of both U∗s is defined as U∗sum. We propose the histogram representation of U∗sum as a frequency diagram with regard to the number of FEM elements. The histograms are depicted for modeled bodies under torsion, which show that the main role of the windshield is the load transfer to the roof panel. The histogram indicates the insufficiency of oversimplified modeling of structures.
