Abstract

In order to reduce the occupant injury risks by the collision, the optimization of the deceleration of the vehicle is needed. However, the relationship between the occupant response and the vehicle deceleration is too complex. In this study, a finite impulse response (FIR) was applied to predict the occupant responses. Using FIR, it was demonstrated that when the any random input (vehicle deceleration) was provided, the output (occupant responses) could be predicted in high precision.
