Abstract

This study proposes a method for presenting the maneuver demand information by adding small vibration on accelerator pedal. The additional vibration is not a pure sinusoidal wave but vibration of which the change rates differ between upward and downward directions. This enables the driver to understand the direction of the maneuver he should take. In addition, the magnitude of the maneuver can be presented by the amplitude of the vibration. The effectiveness of the proposed information presentation method is examined through experiments. The results indicate that the proposed method is effective.
