Abstract

This paper describes a full vehicle model for model-based development of a future light weight electric vehicle using Modelica language to evaluate both vehicle dynamics and energy consumption. Modelica language has a beneficial feature that allows various engineering fields to be simulated simultaneously in a unified model. Utilizing this advantage, the model was composed of a vehicle, control systems, a torque vectoring driveline, and motors/invertors, with considering each loss. Simulations of a driving straight ahead in crosswind and a steady state cornering were carried out, and the results clarified the trade-off relationship between vehicle attitude and energy consumption, and the breakdown of energy consumption quantitatively.
