Abstract

Driving at insufficient headway distance is the main factor of a rear-end collision. Therefore, in order to consider ways to prevent rear-end collision, it is necessary to survey the velocity and headway distance of vehicles driving on the road. In this research, we described an analysis method and an example of analysis results on the headway times, headway distances, velocities and vehicle types by a measuring system using light detection and ranging devices.
