Abstract

This article presents the results of three crash tests to evaluate side air bag effectiveness conducted by the Federal Highway Administration in cooperation with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (N.H.T.S.A.). In each test, a vehicle was propelled sideways at approximately 20 mph into a fixed pole. N.H.T.S.A. Test #10047 involved a 2017 Nissan Frontier crew cab; N.H.T.S.A. Test #9947 involved a 2017 GMC Acadia; and N.H.T.S.A. Test #9963 involved a Envision AWD SUV.
