Abstract

This article reports findings from the testing of a collision scenario involving a child rolling down a driveway on a kick scooter onto a roadway. Two approaches are tested: in the first, the test subjects kick once and then coasted down the driveway while, in the the other, the subjects kick multiple times down the driveway. The aim is to determine the amount of time it took for the child to travel over several 10 feet intervals and calculate the average speed of the scooter travel.

RESULTS of the study show similar speeds and time over the first 10 feet of travel for both approaches, with average speed increasing with as greater distances are traveled.
