Abstract

Integrating a set of investigations in social psychology about psychosocial aspects of violence, this article aims to analyze the narratives of adolescent women deprived of freedom about the effects of psychosocial dynamics of urban violence in their trajectories. This is a qualitative study that was carried out from narrative interviews with 10 adolescents. In the results and discussions, we highlight the following effects of psychosocial dynamics of violence: escalation of the violation of social rights, induction of processes of precariousness of life, production of marginalized subjectivities, self-blame, production of subjectivities that aim to live intensely, the production of fear in the face of uncertainties, enrollment of these adolescents in factions, and framing the narrative of the involved. In general, urban violence crosses the adolescents' lives in different ways that intertwine through the overlapping of racial, class, and gender oppression. These findings support epistemological and practical formulations that contribute to a Psychology directed to social justice and (re)invention of social policies aimed at the youth.
