Abstract

In Japan, landslides caused by heavy rains occur every year in various parts of the country, causing damage to human lives, property, and social infrastructure. Why do sediment-related disasters occur in order to reduce the damage caused by sediment-related disasters? Where does it occur? When will it occur? It is important to understand correctly. Therefore, in this paper, we explain the types of sediment-related disasters associated with rainfall, describe the predisposing factors and incentives that cause disasters, and show the mechanism by which sediment-related disasters occur. In addition, we will explain the methods that are being researched or actually used to answer the questions "where does the sediment-related disaster occur?" And "when does it occur?".
