Abstract

As the number of elderly drivers is expected to increase significantly in the future, measures to prevent traffic accidents by elderly drivers are an urgent issue. For this reason, as part of the measures, the government decided to promote the spread of vehicles equipped with certain safe driving support functions such as automatic braking ("safe driving support vehicles"), and in March 2017, regarding future efforts. An interim report was made. In the interim report, for safe driving support vehicles, the concept and nickname "Safety Support Car S (Support Car S)" will be defined based on the results of accident analysis, and "Automatic braking installation rate will be 90% or more by 2020. With the goal of "doing", we will promote various efforts in the future. Specifically, the public and private sectors will work together to raise awareness, expand automobile assessments, and formulate international and domestic standards for advanced safety technologies such as automatic braking.
