Abstract

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and pediatric gastroenterologists share at least one common goal: preventing injuries and/or deaths from accidental ingestions by children. The CPSC pursues this goal via targeted regulation, such as with small rare-earth magnets. The North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (NASPGHAN) was recently helpful in coming forward to share concerns and critically important data with the CPSC during its decision-making process concerning a mandatory standard for these products...
