•Suicide increment during and afterwards a pandemic is highly common.

•This study reports COVID-19 suicide cases in Pakistan for the first time.

•Most of the suicides occur due to lockdown-related economic recession.

•Fear of infection is the second suicide contributing factor.

•Lockdown-related unemployment aggravates the life-threatening situation.
