Abstract

This article provides an update to a previously published article. The article presents the results of a test using a four-wheel drive Isuzu Rodeo where the steering of the vehicle is a major factor in the rollover crash. Accident reconstructionist calculate the effect of steering on the deceleration rate of a yawing vehicle. In cases where a vehicle begins yawing on the asphalt before going off the road, striations in the tire marks may be helpful in discovering what direction the driver was steering during the trip phase. Data collected from an event data recorder may also be helpful.
