Abstract

I read with interest the recent article by Barnes et al.1, which discussed common data elements (CDEs) recommended to improve the quality of studies of military-related post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

I am concerned that among these CDEs, the authors have neglected inclusion of an instrument for the assessment of a potentially critical confounder in studies of PTSD in military populations.
