Abstract

According to statistical data about 30.000 people die, about a quarter of a million people get physical injuries of varying severity every year in road traffic accidents (RTA) in Russia. At that, about a quarter of these people belong to a category of people of active and working age. In this regard the road traffic accident rate (RTAR) may be attributed to one of the most significant social and economic and demographic problems. Generally, a reason of RTA occurrence is a combination of non-interrelated events, which occurrence has an accidental character. Relevant is the problem of revealing places of RTA concentration with the aim of analyzing reasons of occurrence thereof and application of effective measures for reducing the number of accidents in every particular area of concentration. The authors of an article have taken an attempt to develop an informational system making it possible to reveal the places of accidents concentration and display them on electronic terrain map in automatic mode on the basis of RTA statistical data.
