Abstract

RESULTS of studies on pedestrian flows in large Russian cities and results of evaluating negative influence of route taxis in comparison with other motor vehicle categories are presented in the article. Market economy of Russia has increased transport mobility of population of big cities; at the same time municipal transport hasn't developed or it has even reduced the offer on transportation of passengers. That is why wide use of the potential of buses of small capacity as passenger route taxis has become characteristic of many cities. Research has shown that intensive traffic of route taxis in transport flow increases the risk of road traffic accidents and is becoming ecologically not safe. A correlation between the number of road accidents involving taxis and the volume of emissions in the air of the street-and-road network has been established. The corresponding correlation coefficient is particularly important. It is suggested to use environmental criteria for validation of requirements for a carriage rolling stock when developing conditions for tendering process for serving regular routes.
