Abstract

The article includes an analysis of issues related to the structural safety of modern road transport structures at all life cycle stages (design, construction, operation and reconstruction), performed by the authors and relevant for modern large cities and becoming more and more aggravated under conditions of increasing urbanization. According to the study results, development of the national regulatory system in the field of design, construction and operation of bridges, tunnels and other artificial structures in connection with their actual service loads is reviewed. Based on the national and international experience, with consideration for effective regulatory systems, recommendations are given for the use of such advanced innovative structures and technologies for construction of artificial transport structures as "slurry wall", longitudinal launching, Аutoripage, facilitating efficient resolution of issues in traffic and pedestrian safety assurance. The authors also analyze applicability of modern design and construction/operation management tools using building information modeling (BIM) in improvement of operational safety with regard to both the existing and designed/constructed facilities.
