Abstract

A previous commentary (Stone, 2015) sought to trace statutory and judicial efforts to curb or even eradicate by sanction the menace of knives being simply carried or being used for criminal purposes. Legislation had refined the ambit of criminalised conduct by creating additional offences in respect of making threats with a blade and by carrying blades onto school premises and had increased penalties, including specifying a minimum custodial term for second or threat offenders... The subject merits revisitation in this furum in the light of work since undertaken by the Sentencing Council...
