Abstract

Machinery operating on sloping ground can overturn if the ground slope is steep enough. The static overturning limits of most machines are not known by the operator. Farmers, in particular, add on to, or modify the geometry of tractors by adding implements or altering wheel track settings. This paper describes a field technique whereby the static stability limit of a machine can be measured without recourse to overturning trials or complex computation.
