Abstract

The city of Ishinomaki in Miyagi prefecture suffered the most extensive damage from the Great East Japan Earthquake. We have been supporting the municipality through car sharing, which is operated by users themselves with cars donated from across Japan. We call this "Community Car Sharing." In this article, I would like to introduce the circumstances, scope, effects and challenges of our project in Ishinomaki, from the viewpoint of a leader at the site.
