Abstract

Bike sharing systems, better known by the name "community cycle", are becoming popular in Japan. This report focuses on the large scale high-density type bike sharing systems to examine their characteristics and potential as part of urban transport systems. It also aims to propose future directions for the development of these systems in our country, achieved by our research on sustainable operation schemes including case studies in other countries.
