Abstract

When individuals seen during situational crises do not respond appropriately to intervention, the difficulty may lie in their preoccupation with underlying developmental and transitional issues that have not surfaced. It is suggested that clinicians broaden their perspective to probe this connection and concentrate on the core dilemmas that may hold the key to lasting change.
