Abstract

MDMA 'Ecstasy' has made an enormous impact on contemporary youth culture. However its dangers have been largely overlooked and its toxicity can represent a sudden catastrophe in the Emergency department. Treatment is discussed and controversies in the philosophy of harm reduction are examined in this dramatic but ultimately preventable predicament.
