Abstract

This quantitative non-experimental descriptive survey refers to results from a self-administered postal questionnaire to measure emergency nurses' attitudes to deliberate self-harm. Defined as behaviour that may not be intended to cause death but is carried out in the knowledge that it is potentially harmful, self-harm is said to include cutting, burning, attempted drowning, attempted hanging and self-poisoning.
