Abstract

On Aug 3, the Government of Canada announced a national inquiry on the epidemic of violence toward Indigenous women. The inquiry follows decades of urging by advocates, international human rights groups, and the UN to investigate and explain the 1200 women and girls who have been murdered or gone missing in the country since 1980.
