Abstract

An industrialized housing system was developed by SERVIVIENDA for low-income, urban residents in Colombia. This paper presents a post-occupancy evaluation (POE) of that system in Bogota, Colombia. The POE had two components: Personal interviews with users, and observations of environmental characteristics of the houses. Through the interviews, demographic information, unit evaluation, activity patterns and plans for the unit were obtained. The environmental observations centered on unit location in the lot, unplanned use of spaces and alterations in the unit. The results were used to produce design objectives and criteria, which, in turn, were used to produce a new solution.
