Abstract

This study explores the likelihood of physical violence perpetration against an intimate partner in same-race relationships in comparison with those in interracial relationships. The sample consists of 1,174 students at four American universities and one Canadian university.

RESULTS indicate little difference between racial groups in the percent who reported minor assaults but large differences in severe assaults. Students in interracial relationships did not report more intimate partner violence than same-race couples when controlling for demographic variables.
