Abstract

A time-limited life-skills group for male adolescents on probation provides them the opportunities to learn decision-making and problem-solving skills aimed at developing foresight and avoiding further trouble within the community. The program employs structured exercises, practical activities, and open-ended discussions for members to show increased ability in foreseeing consequences of their actions and in applying a problem-solving framework to individual and group problems. The article discusses issues in group design and interfacing human service and law enforcement agencies.
