Abstract

Early in 1937 the legislature of the State of Nebraska created the Nebraska Safety Patrol. Primarily its function was to be the promotion of safety on the state highways but coincident with this was its function of law enforcement. The directors of the patrol initiated a program of testing and training which aimed to select the better men from the large number of applicants for positions on the patrol. This study is an interpretative inquiry into the procedures used in selecting the Nebraska Safety Patrol.
