Abstract

This reprint of an historical article from 1847 discusses the principal causes of congenital deafness, including constitutional tendency to deafness in the parents, mental impressions of the mother previous to the birth of her child, and intermarriage of near relations. Causes of accidental deafness are also discussed, including injuries from falls. (CR)
