Abstract

This article discusses technology being used to help mitigate hazards connected with distracted driving. Highlighted is California Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA)'s effort to enhance grade crossing visibility on the Metro Orange Line Extension in the the San Fernando Valley. MTA designers have incorporated red in-roadway warning light stop bars into the extension to target the tunnel vision of distracted drivers.
