Abstract

In July 2014, Kaleo Pharmaceuticals launched its new product, EVZIO(tm) -- a naloxone hydrochloride - device combination -- for the emergency treatment of opioid overdose. Similar to an automated external defibrillator, the device is programmed to guide an untrained lay user through the provess of overdose reversal using prerecorded audiovisual prompts.
